In most cases, laboratory staff complete the supported ABHA connection while the patient is at the desk. After that, SmartCarePlus handles the supported care-context linking and health-information exchange automatically.

M1 · LAB-ASSISTED ABHA FLOW
The lab starts the ABHA connection.
Usually, a lab team member runs this flow while the patient is present and provides the required Aadhaar and OTP details. Patient self-service can also be supported when the facility chooses to offer it.
Enter Aadhaar details
The lab team enters the patient’s Aadhaar number and communication mobile number.
Give consent
The patient’s consent is recorded for Aadhaar authentication and sharing the required demographic details with NHA.
Create an ABHA address if needed
For a new ABHA account, the flow suggests ABHA addresses to choose from. Existing ABHA accounts use the address already returned after verification.
Verify identity
The Aadhaar-linked OTP is verified, the details are confirmed, and the ABHA is linked to the patient record.
M2 · AUTOMATED LINKING
After M1, the system takes over.
M2 is not another screen for your staff. Once the patient identity is linked, SmartCarePlus creates or reuses the report care context and continues through the ABDM gateway.

What does the lab do?
Nothing extra on an M2 screen. The lab continues its normal report workflow while the supported linking process runs in the background.
M3 · HEALTH-INFORMATION EXCHANGE
The record moves through the connected system.
M3 is the exchange stage. Consent, care context, structured health information, and ABDM callbacks work together so the supported diagnostic record can be transferred.
M3 is a backend exchange process, not a staff-facing M3 form.
THE SHORT VERSION
The lab starts M1. SmartCarePlus carries the rest.
In plain language: the lab connects the identity once, continues normal laboratory work, and lets the supported ABDM processes run automatically. Patient self-service is optional, not the main workflow.
