Identity
Connect the patient to ABHA
M1 is the identity and registration part of the ABDM journey. The patient gives consent, verifies with the supported Aadhaar/mobile OTP flow, and connects an ABHA identity to the patient record.
SmartCarePlus helps diagnostic laboratories connect their patient and diagnostic workflows with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
ABDM features and eligibility are subject to applicable ABDM requirements and workflows.

FROM YOUR LAB TO THE ABDM NETWORK
Your report starts in the lab. ABDM gives it a consent-based path to the patient’s digital health record.
PATIENT
Use the supported ABHA flow to connect the right patient to the right record.

PATIENT ACCESS
Supported diagnostic information can move through ABDM with the patient’s consent.
DHIS · APRIL–SEPTEMBER 2026 PROVISIONS
Reports created from eligible Aadhaar-verified patient workflows are the kind of Category 1 Diagnostic Report transactions covered by the current DHIS provisions. An eligible Health Facility can receive ₹10 per eligible transaction, subject to the scheme conditions.
The incentive comes from the National Health Authority under DHIS—not from SmartCarePlus. The report, ABHA, facility, integration, transaction limits, validation, claim process, and available funds must meet the applicable requirements.

per eligible transaction
The first 100 eligible transactions are not incentivised under the record-linking category.
Reference: NHA DHIS provisions described in the supplied Corrigendum 7 brief. Confirm the current scheme document and eligibility before making a claim or publishing an amount.
THE NEXT DIGITAL LAYER
ABDM is not only about storing and sharing records. India’s digital health ecosystem is also moving toward more connected insurance workflows through the National Health Claims Exchange, or NHCX.
For diagnostic laboratories, this means that digital readiness can matter beyond today’s report-sharing workflows.
Policy reference
The current DHIS provisions describe an incentive for eligible AB-PMJAY claims processed through NHCX: ₹200 per claim or 10% of the claim amount, whichever is lower, subject to the applicable conditions.

THE LAB KEEPS WORKING
Start the patient with the supported Aadhaar-based flow. After that, your team carries on with normal lab work. For an ABHA patient, the remaining ABDM process is automatic.
Staff starts the supported Aadhaar-based flow.
Booking, sample collection, testing, and reporting continue as usual.
The diagnostic report is completed in SmartCarePlus.
For an ABHA patient, the supported linking and exchange continue automatically.
The record can become available through the supported ABDM journey.
THE ABDM JOURNEY
These are three connected parts of the ABDM journey: identify the patient, link the care context, and exchange the health information.
Identity
M1 is the identity and registration part of the ABDM journey. The patient gives consent, verifies with the supported Aadhaar/mobile OTP flow, and connects an ABHA identity to the patient record.
Linking
M2 connects the patient’s care context with the facility. In SmartCarePlus, this is triggered and handled automatically after the relevant patient and report conditions are met.
Exchange
M3 is the health-information exchange stage. The applicable consent and ABDM callbacks allow the structured diagnostic record to move through the connected ecosystem.
DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS
The patient still gets a clear PDF. At the same time, the clinical information can be prepared as structured data for the supported ABDM workflow.

WHY IT MATTERS
ABDM is useful when it fits the work your lab already does: identify the patient, complete the report, and let supported digital health processes continue from there.
Give patients a more connected way to manage their diagnostic health information.
Prepare your laboratory to participate in India's growing digital health ecosystem.
Keep your regular lab workflow inside SmartCarePlus while supported ABDM processes run alongside it.
ABDM is part of the SmartCarePlus workflow rather than a separate system your staff needs to manage.
